13 Weeks

Very Exciting Week!

The bean and I had a lot of adventure this week...we took a trip to Colorado to visit Auntie Niki. The baby sure did enjoy the fresh mountain air! Niki took the baby on its hike in the Rockies. Well, "hike" may be a bit of an overstatement, but it was a beautiful walk around a couple of frozen lakes.

We also had our 13 week appointment. So far the baby and I are "textbook", which is great to hear. We had some testing for Down's syndrome, which included another ultrasound. While we weren't too worried about anything being wrong with the baby, we did like the idea of another ultrasound. It is really looking like a baby now! (S)he had their legs crossed and was just chillin' in the womb. So cute. (I've attached a picture above, along with my belly shot. I am definitely an "early shower"!!)

What the baby is doing: By 13 weeks pregnant your baby's intestines are working on maturing and your baby's tiny pancreas is working hard to produce insulin. This will help your baby regulate her blood sugar levels in the months and years following delivery. During pregnancy week 13 your baby's eyes also start to move closer to the center of your baby's head

Weird Preggo Stuff: I've been craving ketchup. I've been eating fries just so I can have something to go with the ketchup.

Mind Blowing Thought of the Week: I only gained 8 pounds in my first trimester?! Awesome.

What I miss: Beer/Wine Tasting...I missed out on some good opportunities in Colorado...no tapping the Rockies with Coors for me!

What is exciting: Seeing the baby on the ultrasound, crib shopping.

Upcoming Events: Picking out nursery furniture and remodel supplies!

12 Weeks!

This week has been very eventful:

- I had my first ever acupuncture appointment (amazing, amazing, amazing)

- Lance's uncle Larry is a contractor and came over to assess the areas we want to remodel. Mostly, the bathroom and the baby room. The baby room has this incredibly ugly plastering on the wall. It will need to be cut out and re-sheetrocked. I will post pictures of the progress, but our baby will have a beautiful room instead of a hideous Trading Spaces gone wrong monstrosity.

- We picked out the baby bedding!! I am really excited. I want to have a really cheery, happy feeling in the room. I've included a picture above.

- We started crib shopping. Sigh. It is a bit overwhelming and we don't want to spend too much but we don't want to sacrifice quality either.

What the baby is doing: Developing reflexes: fingers will soon begin to open and close, toes will curl, eye muscles will clench, and mouth will make sucking movements. From crown to rump, baby is just over 2 inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce

Weird Preggo Stuff: Feeling pretty good this week, no nausea. But my hip and SI joint have been bothering me. I'm hoping it is just over extension and not a sign of things to come.

Mind Blowing Thought of the Week: This ugly junk room will soon be where my child sleeps.

What I miss: Sushi.

What is exciting: Having a plan for the baby room, finally sleep like a normal person this week

Upcoming Events: Visiting Niki in Colorado, doctor's appointment next Thursday.

First Post! - 11 weeks!

Welcome to the Bean Blog!

My friend Maddie has a blog on her pregnancy progress and I think it is a such a neat idea that I am copying her!

The basics so far:

We found out we were pregnant Nov. 25th - just in time for the Holidays! We had our first doctor's appointment Dec. 29th. Everything checked out just fine: the heartrate was 164 bpm and the little bean was super active. (S)he was waving to us and bouncing around. Definitely Lance's child - HAHA!

I have been feeling pretty good - assuming I get enough sleep. And there is never enough sleep. ;)

Week: 11

Weird Preggo Stuff: I am tired all the time, but can't sleep. Go figure! Also, I can't open the refrigerator without holding my breath. The smell makes me gag. And we cleaned it out!

Mind Blowing Thought of the Week: We got our first baby purchase in the mail today: a Kelty Wallaby baby carrier. I was trying it on and the thought hit me that soon I will actually be putting a baby in there!

What I miss: Champagne on New Year's Eve. Not being the assumed designated driver.

What is exciting: I know I will regret saying this, but wearing maternity clothes! Finally I can let the tummy hang out!

Upcoming Events: Visiting Colorado for the weekend, cleaning out the room for the nursery.
